Communication with families – Student learning progress
As we get closer to the end of another term, I would like to take the opportunity to remind parents that parent teacher discussions will be happening in week 10 around a piece of student work. I encourage all parents to take the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with teachers before end of year reporting starts in Term 4. Student Learning will be sent home in the form of Evidence of Learning and will focus on English and HaSS this term. Notices for parent teacher will be distributed next week, parents are encouraged to make a booking through the QR code on the notice. If for some reason this doesn’t work for you, please feel free to contact the office
I’m too tired!
Is the comment we get from a lot of students lately and the reason why many children claim they can’t possibly do their work. I’d like to remind all families how important it is that students are not on phones/devices without supervision into the late hours of the night and the early hours of the morning. I had one Grade 4 child tell me they didn’t put their device away until 2am in the morning. Perhaps their parent didn’t know they had their phone???
Home Reading is making such a huge difference!OHome Read
Between Home Reading and Playberry student reading levels are really improving and it’s positively impacting both their spelling and the quality of student writing. Students will be tested in Term 4 and we’re expecting – hoping – that what we are seeing is not just a small thing but something that shows up in a really strong way. Please continue to support your child in their home reading, it is making an enormous difference – and I’m planning on having Morning Tea for those who have earnt it from Home Reading this coming week!

Dogs Home of Tasmania Fundraiser
Dogs Home of Tasmania
A huge thank you to our community for your generous donations to the Dogs Home of Tasmania Fundraiser, which is a not for profit charity.
Today we presented a huge collections of food, treats, toys and blankets and $170, which we used to spell out the word WOOF!. Lulu approved each item before it was handed over to Kiri from the Dogs Home who collected our donations to take back for all the dogs to enjoy.
Thank you very much to Miss Grech for leading us in the organisation of this fundraiser. We hope to do this again next year!
If you're looking to add a dog to your family, there are plenty of beautiful dogs waiting to be adopted at www.dhot.com.au

New Kitchen Specialist!
We would like to warmly welcome Kate to our school, who works in the Move Well Eat Well room on Fridays. She is a wonderful chef, with experience such as working at the Agrarian Kitchen and top restaurants interstate – we are very happy to have her expertise on hand! She will be working with each class in the school, and working with Perry who is the Garden Specialist. They are planning recipes that utilise the current crop in DIG. Also the MWEW room has undergone a significant upgrade, including a refresh and resupply of kitchen materials. Thanks to Ms Davey for supporting Mrs Clifford, Kate and Perry to make this happen.
24Carrot Gardens spent a wonderful day with our Grade 5 students at school last week. They taught them how to cook with Vlad, make a clay mug, and grow fungi firsthand. The students were excellent, and the lunch made of semolina gnocchi was a hit! The mugs will be put in the kiln and fired, and eventually returned to the students. Grade 5 look forward to seeing the progress of the fungi growing in a warm dark cupboard.
